Exchanging Knowledge and Fostering Synergy

13 May, 2025

In April, Carbon Farming MED representatives participated in the Interreg Euro-MED Innovative Sustainable Economy mission event, which took place in Sarajevo from April 2-4. The event was organised by BETA Technological Centre and hosted by CENER 21, both project partners in the Carbon Farming MED project. The gathering brought together ISE Mission partners along with representatives from all 14 Thematic Projects (TPs). Over the three days, the event provided a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering synergy among participants, and setting the stage for impactful collaboration moving forward.

Carbon Farming MED’s Contribution: Presenting Innovative Solutions in New Business Models

Carbon Farming MED took part in the first day of the gathering during the project pitch sessions, presenting its innovative approach under the category of New Business Models. The project showcased how carbon farming can serve as a sustainable and circular solution for the Mediterranean region, focusing on regenerative agricultural practices that not only enhance soil health but also offer economic incentives through carbon credits.

The presentation enabled other participants to better understand the potential of carbon farming in the context of climate resilience and rural development, opening the door for future partnerships and knowledge exchange.

Capacity-Building and Knowledge Exchange: Exploring Challenges and Solutions for Carbon Farming in Agri-Food Systems

On the second day of the event, the CARBON FARMING MED project team actively engaged in hands-on discussions within the agri-food systems thematic group. We explored key challenges related to the adoption of carbon farming practices, focusing on barriers such as the lack of awareness about financial support and the high initial costs of implementing sustainable agricultural techniques.

In collaboration with other project representatives, we identified successful practices and proposed solutions to increase the uptake of carbon farming across the Mediterranean.

This collaborative activity also allowed us to discuss stakeholder engagement strategies and the role of policy and financial incentives in overcoming existing barriers.

The 3rd Community of Practice (CoP) meeting of the Interreg Euro-MED Innovative Sustainable Economy (ISE) mission provided a valuable opportunity for Carbon Farming MED to present its approach and engage in constructive discussions with representatives from different thematic projects.
