12 Dec, 2024

The 2nd Consortium Meeting of the Carbon Farming Med project took place from November 25th to 27th, 2025, in beautiful Abruzzo, Italy. This gathering brought together all project partners to discuss and advance shared goals for sustainable carbon farming in the Mediterranean region.

Key Highlights:

  • Work done so far & planning next steps: The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress made across various work packages. The partners assessed completed tasks and outlined the next steps to further advance the goals of the Carbon Farming Med project.
  • Engaging discussions: In addition to the consortium work, our program included a variety of presentations, such as one on the synergy between custodian farmers and soil ecological functionality. We also heard from our Italian and Spanish pilot farms, who shared insights into their work, region-specific challenges, solutions, and more, fostering valuable knowledge exchange. Presentations on the biodiversity of Majella Park and the cultural landscape of the Cinque Terre vineyard further enriched the discussions.
  • Excursion to experimental Sites: Participants visited Fattoria Di Vaira in Abruzzo, where they gained firsthand insights into field-based research and carbon farming techniques, enhancing their understanding of the practical application of the project.
  • Networking between project partners: The meeting also provided a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration between the project partners, all while enjoying the renowned hospitality and cuisine of Italy.
